If you’re trying to lose weight then you need to know some basics about your body. Learn how many calories equal a pound and how many do you actually need to maintain your current weight level. Just changing your calorie intake can result in weight loss. If combined with exercises your weights lose can be drastic. When reading what’s on the back of your food you need to be able to understand the block.  If you don’t take the time to learn you will never truly lose your weight or gain muscle.





                It is known that 3500 calories equals one pound. That means you have to burn 3500 calories before you will lose a pound. There are many factors that can cause someone else to lose weight faster than another person. Age is a major contender in your ability to lose your current weight. The younger you are the faster your metabolism naturally is. So it should not come to you as a surprised that the average 10 year old has more energy than the average 60 year old. The average 10 year old will burn more calories at rest also or when not in motion. Time is an important factor but the sooner you eat right and exercise correctly the better you will be when you turn 60. Weight is also important when it comes to losing weight. An obese person needs more calories to maintain their current weight than a fit person. So any change for the better in an obese person diet will result in weight loss.





 To maintain your weight or to lose or gain weight you must be able to calculate your basal metabolic rate.  Your BMR for short tells you how many calories you need each day to maintain your weight. Your BMR = Your Weight * 12. Example, a 250 pound person needs on average 3000 calories to maintain their weight of 250 pounds. Once you realize your BMR than you can calculate how to eat under you BMR to lose weight or to gain weight you eat over your BMR.              





When reading about how healthy a food would be to consume you should always look at the block on the back. Look at the serving sizes and how many serving sizes are in  the container. If you are trying to lose weight you will want to avoid high carbs foods. High carb foods make you gain weight. You should have a balance in your food. Follow the 40/30/30 rule. The rule states every meal should have a balance of 40% Carbs, 30% Fat, and 30% Protein.
